Summer 2025
A busy summer is drawing to a close here at Jubilee. We are expanding one of our houses into a duplex to add an additional living unit. Building a house is a lot of work! But the framing has gone quickly, with the help of four different volunteer work groups. A local contractor brought his crew by early in the summer to get things started, and a group from the Bruderhof communities came after to move things along. Two former volunteers brought friends from their church to finish up the wall and roof framing, and a group of young men from the local Karen community showed up one morning to get the roof sheathing on. It’s a joy to watch the project move along with the help of so many friends!
Summer is also a time of traveling. This past month, a single mother from Guatemala and three of her young children accompanied Jubilee apprentices Johwa and Eunjung to the city of Chicago for a street outreach ministry. It was the first time she or her children had traveled outside of Georgia since coming to the U.S. Carmen (not her real name) used her Spanish to connect with other Spanish speakers on the streets. We are very thankful that they had the opportunity to extend God’s welcome to others in this way.
