Carpools, Cooler Weather, and Constant Change
Along with the back-to-school season, this August brought more rain and cooler temperatures than usual. We are thankful that all of the complex car(/van)pooling that helps about twenty children get to three different schools is going well. The rain means that our winter pasture for the cattle will grow lush. And life is just easier when temperatures are in the 80’s instead of the 90’s!
Even with so much activity, it feels like we are also in a season of waiting for God to reveal what some of our new and continued hospitality focuses will be for the next few months. We hope to welcome one or two new refugee families for a time of rest, learning, and transition. We continue to partner with friends in Comer to support the afterschool program at The Perch, which will hopefully receive a grant to run three days per week rather than just one. Several of our volunteers are also getting started with teaching ESOL and computer literacy at a nearby library. Please pray along with us for patience and encouragement.
